Meet Prabhjap
I am a proud Ayr resident, husband & a father. I bring practical experience from my work in Real estate. Also, being a licensed paralegal and my background in economics, has given me a better understanding of the needs of families and businesses.
Coming from a multi generational farming family, I know that protecting farmland is critical to our heritage and economy, and I am committed to preserving the rural character of North Dumfries.
His wife is a lawyer who runs her own law practice, and together they are raising their young daughter in North Dumfries. As a local taxpayer, parent, and professional, Prabhjap understands what it means to build a business, raise a family, and plan for the future in the community they call home.
Prabhjap believes leadership starts with listening. He has been speaking with residents, farmers, and local businesses across North Dumfries, hearing their concerns, learning from their experiences, and understanding what they expect from their Township.
He wants to put his experience, time, and energy to work protecting what makes North Dumfries special, making progress where it is needed, and ensuring the community grows in a way that makes sense for the people who already call it home.
Community Priorities
Improve road safety, address traffic and speeding concerns, and advocate for increased police presence and appropriate patrols across North Dumfries.
Protect farmland, support local farmers, improve and maintain rural roads, advocate for reliable high-speed internet across our rural communities, and preserve the rural character of North Dumfries.
Expand affordable year-round recreation and community programs for youth, families and seniors. Support more options for seniors to remain in North Dumfries as need changes, and advocate for a local high school to better serve students and families.
Manage growth responsibly, ensure infrastructure keeps pace, and make every tax dollar count.
Champion local businesses and entrepreneurs, reduce unnecessary barriers, explore tools such as a Community Improvement Plan (CIP) or Business Improvement Area (BIA) to strengthen our business community, attract investment, support local jobs, and expand opportunities for youth.
“North Dumfries can grow without losing what makes it North Dumfries.”
— Prabhjap Sandhu
Growth should be thoughtful, infrastructure should keep pace, and the character of our communities should remain at the heart of every decision.
On the Campaign Trail

Canvassing on foot and by bicycle across North Dumfries streets, connecting directly with neighbours where they live.
“I’m not waiting until the election to ask people what their concerns are. I’m already meeting residents, attending and participating in discussions.”
— Prabhjap Sandhu, Candidate for Mayor
In a candidate profile by The Waterloo Region Record, Prabhjap outlines his collaborative approach to municipal leadership — listening to neighbours across Ayr and North Dumfries, ensuring infrastructure keeps pace with growth, supporting downtown businesses, and bringing fiscal accountability to township hall.
